A member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has announced that the North-West has picked President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. He believes the President will win a second term.
Kwankwaso spoke during the official launch of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna on Saturday. He described the large crowd at the rally as proof of support for Tinubu as the election approaches.
While speaking to journalists at the VIP Pavilion, he said the gathering clearly showed the North-West's stance in the upcoming presidential race.
“Today, we of the North-West geopolitical zone have spoken loud and clear on who we stand for. Our choice of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains our commitment to a better Nigeria and national cohesion,” Kwankwaso said.
He pointed out that the Kaduna rally was not just a political event. It was also a chance for the North to show its dedication to national unity and growth under Tinubu's leadership.
Kwankwaso stated that if the President returns to office, it will help boost fair development and ensure resources are shared fairly among the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
“Tinubu’s presidency stands for fair and equitable distribution of resources to all zones, and his return will be a blessing to the greater Nigeria of our dream,” he said.
He rejected claims that northern support for Tinubu was only about political gain. He insisted that the region would keep its promise to the President in the 2027 election.
“Asiwaju is the northern candidate, and he will not promote anything outside his ambition because we are trustworthy people, and we shall deliver him come 2027,” he declared.
Kwankwaso called on political leaders and Nigerians everywhere to focus on national unity and shared progress. He argued that the Kaduna rally showed the support Tinubu has among parts of the North-West as the presidential election draws near.
