The Norwegian Football Federation said on Tuesday that it has asked FIFA’s ethics committee to check into FIFA’s decision to give a peace prize to US President Donald Trump.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino gave Trump the first peace prize during the World Cup draw on December 6 for the 2026 tournament.

Later that month, the human rights group FairSquare filed a complaint with FIFA’s ethics committee. They claimed Infantino broke his duty to stay neutral by supporting Trump.

FIFA has not shared how it decided to give out the peace prize. This happened while Trump and his team were pushing for him to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

NFF president Lise Klaveness said they took this step on their own when approaching FIFA’s ethics committee.

"I think others (federations) knew that they could sign it if they wanted to.

"We concluded that it was useless to put pressure on anyone; it would just create friction."

Infantino has shown he wants a close relationship with Trump as the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico approaches from June 11 to July 19.
