Four Nigerian wrestlers have reached Mongolia for the 2026 World Wrestling 3rd Ranking Series. The Nigeria Wrestling Federation is working hard to increase the country’s visibility in global wrestling.
The team includes Genesis Mercy Miesinnei (50kg), Ogunsanya Christianah Tolulope (53kg), Kolawole Esther Omolayo (62kg), and Ojo Damola Hannah (76kg). They left Nigeria on Monday night using Turkish Airlines.
Women’s wrestling coach and NWF Technical Committee Chairman Akuh Purity is leading the group. He thanked NWF President Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for taking care of all travel and participation details for the team.
“I want to, on behalf of the athletes and the entire wrestling community, express our profound appreciation to the President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation for his unwavering support, dedication, and commitment to the welfare of Nigerian wrestlers,” Purity said.
“His contribution continues to create opportunities for athletes to compete at the highest level and showcase Nigeria’s talent on the global stage.”
Purity mentioned that the team’s main goal in Mongolia is to earn ranking points. This will help them improve their world standings and secure good positions before the World Championships.
