Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi hit a special Premier League milestone on Saturday. This happened as Fulham lost 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage.
Iwobi is now one of only five players in Premier League history to play at least 100 matches for three different clubs.
The 30-year-old reached this landmark after starting for Fulham against Palace, bringing his total appearances for the club to 100. He had already made 100 appearances for Arsenal and 123 for Everton.
Iwobi now joins Gareth Barry, Rory Delap, Gary Speed, and James Milner in this exclusive group.
But this achievement was overshadowed by another tough result for Fulham. They have now lost their first three league matches under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa.
Josh King opened the scoring for Fulham in the 11th minute. Tyrick Mitchell equalised for Palace in the 35th minute.
Cesar Palacios put Fulham back in the lead just before half-time, but Mitchell scored again in the 54th minute to make it 2-2.
Ben Chilwell, a former Chelsea defender, completed Palace’s comeback in the 77th minute, leaving Fulham with another defeat.
Iwobi was substituted seven minutes before the end of the match. Fellow Nigerian Calvin Bassey played the whole 90 minutes.
Fulham is now in 19th place on the table after three games.
In another match, Erling Haaland’s first-half header helped Manchester City secure a 1-0 win over newly promoted Coventry City at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland scored in the 26th minute, marking his third goal of the season. This victory keeps City perfect with three wins from three matches.
City remains top of the table with nine points.
Nigerian players Taiwo Awoniyi and Frank Onyeka both started for Coventry. Onyeka was substituted in the 63rd minute, while Awoniyi came off eight minutes later.
The loss leaves Coventry at the bottom of the table after losing all three of their matches since returning to the Premier League.
