The Nigerian Railway Corporation will pause its Kajola-Apapa passenger train service for three weeks. This break is to allow for scheduled maintenance on trains and coaches.
Dr Kayode Opeifa, the Managing Director and CEO of NRC, announced this on the corporation’s official X account on Tuesday.
Opeifa said the suspension starts on July 6 and the service will resume on July 27. He mentioned that the last train service for passengers will run on July 3 before the break.
He also noted that freight services to and from the Apapa Port Complex, as well as other train stations on both narrow gauge and standard gauge lines, will continue without interruption during this time.
"Passengers are kindly informed that the NRC operates the Lagos Mass Transit Train services every weekday, from Monday to Friday," he said.
"Morning services leave Ijoko at 6.30 am and Kajola at 7.00 am for Iddo. In the evening, trains depart Iddo at 5.30 pm for Ijoko and 6.15 pm for Kajola."
"Passengers may wish to take advantage of these services during the temporary suspension of the Kajola-Apapa (BAT) Passenger Train Service," he added.
Opeifa expressed regret over any inconvenience this temporary break might cause. He emphasized that the maintenance is essential for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of train services.
"We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued patronage," he concluded.
