Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika is getting closer to joining Eintracht Frankfurt. The Bundesliga team has increased their offer for the Club Brugge player to beat competition from Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Bild reports that Frankfurt has put forward a better offer of around €9m. They hope this will convince Club Brugge to let go of the 25-year-old during this transfer window. However, this amount is still lower than what the Belgian club wants and less than what they initially paid for him.
Onyedika plays mainly as a defensive midfielder. He has a contract with the Jupiler Pro League club until June 30, 2027. Transfermarkt values him at 23 million euros, which shows why Club Brugge is hesitant to accept a much lower amount.
Frankfurt has been interested in the Nigerian for over a year. They think this summer is their best chance to finalize the transfer. With just a year left on his contract and no talks about a renewal, there is a risk that Club Brugge might lose him for free next summer.
