Another celebration is happening in the House of Oduduwa. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has welcomed a baby girl with his wife, Olori Oluwatosin.

The traditional ruler shared the good news on his official social media pages on Sunday. He mentioned that both Olori Oluwatosin and the newborn princess are in excellent health.

This announcement comes just three months after another of the Ooni's wives, Olori Mariam Ajibola, had twin princes in May. This adds another member to the royal family.

Before this announcement, Olori Oluwatosin had stayed mostly out of the public eye. The Ooni did say she is one of his wives, but the palace has not revealed when they got married.

Her name was not among the six women who were publicly recognized as married to the monarch between September and October 2022. After ending his marriage with former queen Naomi Silekunola in December 2021, the Ooni married Mariam Anako on 6 September 2022.

Later, he married Elizabeth Akinmudai and Tobiloba Philips on 9 October, Ashley Adegoke on 14 October, Ronke Ademiluyi on 20 October, and Temitope Adesegun on 24 October.

Gratitude and prayers

In announcing the birth, the Ooni showed his thanks to God for what he called a precious gift of new life. He also congratulated the House of Oduduwa and prayed that the princess would grow in wisdom, grace, and honour.

The Ooni wrote: "To God Almighty be all the glory for his unfailing grace and the precious gift of new life. Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa for the blessed arrival of a Royal Princess through Olori Oluwatosin.

"May the Almighty preserve this divine gift and cause her to flourish in wisdom, grace and honour. We are pleased to share that both Olori Oluwatosin and the Royal Princess are in excellent health."

Expanding royal family

The arrival of the princess follows a series of births announced by the Ooni in recent years. Many Nigerians and well-wishers sent congratulatory messages, celebrating with the House of Oduduwa on social media.

The palace has not yet shared the name of the newborn princess.
