No fewer than 10,000 staff of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) took part in the 2026 promotion exam.

This was shared in a statement in Abuja by the corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri.

Mr Ohaeri said that the exam, which used modern technology, is another achievement of Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed.

He called the success of the exercise a clear sign of dedication to staff welfare, growth, and career development by the corps marshal.

According to Mr Ohaeri, this promotion exercise is one of the largest in the corps’ history. A total of 3,597 intermediate-rank officers and 6,408 junior officers participated, making 10,005 personnel from all over the country.

He mentioned that the promotion was supported by advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) platforms aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness, and credibility throughout the process.

“The technology-driven method removed delays, improved efficiency, and gave every eligible personnel equal chance to compete based on merit and performance.

“To guarantee transparency and fairness, the exercise started across the 12 Zonal Commands with the installation of monitoring cameras on June 14,” he said.

The CPEO added that these cameras were watched over by representatives of the corps marshal and other officials to follow the established promotion rules.

“The exercise was also observed by officials from the Office of the Secretary to the Federation and the Federal Character Commission in line with the corps Promotion Policy and Federal Character Principle,” he said.

A key part of the exercise was the inclusion of officers enrolled in various academic and professional development programs at institutions abroad.

“Thanks to innovative ICT, personnel studying further could join remotely without interrupting their education,” he said.

He said this showed the corps marshal's commitment to ensuring no eligible staff was left behind due to their education or location.

Mr Ohaeri also said that the exercise showed the corps marshal’s vision of building a motivated and professional workforce. He wants to recognize and reward diligence, commitment, and excellence.

“By focusing on career growth in his leadership, the boss continues to build staff confidence in the system while encouraging productivity, accountability, and healthy competition within the corps.

“Under his leadership, the FRSC has seen many reforms aimed at improving staff welfare, enhancing institutional capacity, and using technology to boost service delivery,” he said.

The CPEO called the successful exercise more proof of the corps marshal’s aim to set best practices and create a modern, technology-driven organization that supports the growth of its workforce.

“As the corps moves forward on its transformation journey, the promotion exercise reminds us that hard work, professionalism, and dedication lead to advancement.

“It also confirms the corps marshal’s commitment to building a workforce that is inspired, empowered, and ready to fulfill its mandate of ensuring safer roads for all Nigerians,” he added.
