The Federal Road Safety Corps has praised its officers on special patrol for Eid el-Kabir across Nigeria. They said these officers have helped make highways safer and traffic flow better during the festive season.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed gave this praise after reports from teams sent from the National Headquarters to check on the operations nationwide.

In a statement released on Monday, Deputy Corps Commander and Public Education Officer Osondu Ohaeri said the Corps Marshal noted that the officers showed “dedication, professionalism, and remarkable performance” during their duty.

He added that the hard work and bravery of the officers have played a big part in making highways safer and improving traffic management during Eid.

“The commitment and gallantry demonstrated by the personnel have contributed significantly to the successes recorded so far in ensuring safer highways and smoother traffic flow during the festive period,” he said.

Mohammed was pleased with how the officers conducted themselves and their effectiveness. He urged them to keep up the good work for the rest of the operation.

He mentioned that the progress so far is due to the hard work of FRSC officers and the cooperation from drivers across the country.

“The positive impact of the special patrol operations has been largely driven by the unwavering commitment of FRSC personnel as well as the cooperation received from members of the motoring public,” he said.

The Corps Marshal also asked road users to keep following traffic rules and safety advice during this festive season.

He expressed confidence in the officers' ability to maintain the progress made, but warned that some drivers still break important rules that could risk safety on the roads.

He pointed out that speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading, and using phones while driving are major reasons for road accidents.

Mohammed urged drivers to be patient and careful on the roads. He reminded everyone that road safety is a shared responsibility and mistakes can have serious consequences.

The Corps is committed to keeping the roads safe and trouble-free after Eid el-Kabir through ongoing enforcement, public awareness, traffic management, and quick rescue services on highways across the country.
