Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka is set for an exciting new phase in his career. He has signed a two-year contract with Saudi Pro League team Al Wehda.
Olayinka joins Al Wehda as a free agent after leaving Cypriot club APOEL Nicosia. At APOEL, he played 14 league matches and scored two goals.
"New chapter. Same hunger, same passion, bigger goals. Ready for the journey ahead," the 30-year-old stated on Thursday when he announced his transfer to the Saudi club.
The striker brings a lot of European experience with him. He has played in Czechia, Serbia, Cyprus, and Belgium throughout his career.
His best time was at Slavia Prague, where he won three Czech First League titles and three Czech Cups.
Olayinka also had a successful time with Serbian club Red Star Belgrade, winning two domestic doubles during his stay there.
He has worn the Nigeria national team jersey and was part of the Super Eagles squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Now, he will start fresh in Saudi Arabia. Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo had a great time at Al Wehda from 2023 to 2025.
Ighalo scored 21 goals in 63 matches for Al Wehda before leaving in 2025. Olayinka will aim to follow in his footsteps and make a big impact in the Saudi Pro League.
