The management and legal team of Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Pascal Odinaka, known as Poco Lee, have asked the public to stop sharing unverified information about his legal situation in the United Kingdom.
PREMIUM TIMES has reported that Poco Lee is being held in the UK and is set to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on 15 September 2026, at 10 a.m.
In a statement released on Tuesday and dated 25 August 2026, the team denied any connection between the case and alleged "drink spiking." They stated that this claim is not part of the charges he faces in the UK court.
The statement, signed by Adedoyin Faleye on behalf of Poco Lee’s management, comes as public interest grows about the entertainer’s detention and upcoming court date in London.
“We are particularly worried about the number of unverified stories being shared, including claims about ‘drink spiking,’ which are not part of any allegations or charges before the court,” the team said.
They urged the media and the public to avoid adding details that are not part of the case, warning that such reports could spread false information and cause unfair bias against those involved.
According to the management, the case is already in the UK courts and should be allowed to go through the proper legal process.
“Allegations are not proof of guilt, and no conclusions should be made until the matter has been heard and decided through the proper legal process,” the statement added.
The team also emphasized that everyone has the right to a fair hearing. They believe that the outcome of a legal case should be based on due process and not public opinion.
They mentioned that more information would be shared through official channels when the time is right and thanked the public for their understanding and restraint.
The hearing is set as a plea and trial preparation hearing. The court will look at the defendant’s plea and make plans for the next steps in the case.
Poco Lee's detention was confirmed on Monday by Benjamin Kuti, also known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the Community of Nigerians in the UK. Kuti said he intends to attend the court proceedings to support Poco Lee and asked the public to let the legal process unfold.
BBC News Pidgin later confirmed Poco Lee’s appearance on 15 September. However, the specific charges against him have not been fully made public.
Reports about his alleged detention started surfacing on Nigerian social media between 18 and 19 August, with some early claims linking the matter to an alleged rape or sexual offence. A case under the name Iweh Odinaka was later identified at Snaresbrook Crown Court, and reports indicated that a bail hearing took place on 21 August.
In a separate matter, Texas-based Nigerian rapper Jorji claimed that Poco Lee tried to sexually assault her and a female friend during an incident in Dallas in 2024. She said they went to his apartment for music mentorship before he made unwanted advances. Poco Lee has not publicly responded to this allegation.
There is no confirmed information linking Jorji’s claim to the UK case, and the two matters should be treated independently.
Poco Lee gained fame through Nigerian street dance, especially Zanku and Legwork, before becoming a hypeman and entertainer. He has collaborated with artists like Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Zlatan Ibile, and Tiwa Savage.
He is expected back in court in September, when more details about the case may come to light.
