The management and legal team of Nigerian dancer Iweh Odinaka, known as Poco Lee, have clarified that claims about drink spiking are not part of the allegations he faces in a UK court.
The management made this clear in a statement released on Tuesday during ongoing public discussions about the case involving Poco Lee.
The statement, signed by Adedoyin Faleye and posted on Instagram, urged the public and media to avoid commenting on the case details, which are currently before the court.
“We know there are ongoing discussions about the allegations against our client, Poco Lee, in the UK courts.
“As this matter is now in legal proceedings, we ask the public, media, and all well-meaning people to avoid commenting on the case details. Allegations are not proof of guilt, and no one should jump to conclusions until the case is properly heard and decided.”
The management specifically addressed reports about drink spiking, stating those claims are not part of the court case.
“We are worried about the many unverified stories going around, including claims of drink spiking, which are not part of the allegations or charges in court,” the statement said.
They urged everyone to avoid adding details that are not part of the case, saying such reports could spread false information and lead to unfair judgment of those involved.
The statement continued, “Everyone deserves a fair hearing and to have their case decided by law, not by public opinion. We ask that this right be respected in this situation, just as it would be for anyone else.”
PUNCH Online reported that Snaresbrook Crown Court has confirmed that Poco Lee is set to appear on September 15, 2026, for plea and trial preparation regarding an assault charge.
The court confirmed this information in a response to an inquiry from PUNCH Online on Tuesday.
The Admin Team Lead of the court, James Baker, wrote, “OFFICIAL. Good afternoon. I can confirm this case is listed at Snaresbrook Crown Court for plea and trial preparation on September 15, 2026.
“Criminal Court hearings are open to the public. Details like exact times and courtroom information will not be available until the day before the hearing. Thank you.”
Earlier, PUNCH Online reported that Benjamin Kuti, also known as Oluomo of Derby, who leads the Community of Nigerians in the UK, mentioned that Poco Lee was in a UK prison and would appear in court in September.
However, the court's response confirmed the date but did not elaborate on the allegations, only stating that the case is for plea and trial preparation.
Poco Lee has not been found guilty of any crime, and the allegations are still pending in court.
