The Cross River State Police have arrested a 29-year-old man named Saviour Otu Adim. He is linked to the murder of his six-year-old stepdaughter, Miss Goodness Okon, in Bakassi Local Government Area.

ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the Public Relations Officer for the Cross River State Police, shared this news in a press release on Friday, 28 August 2026.

He said, “The Cross River State Police Command has arrested Saviour Otu Adim, male, aged 29 years, in connection with the alleged murder of his six-year-old stepdaughter, Miss Goodness Ekpo Okon.”

The police spokesman reported that Mrs Itoro Udofia informed them about the incident on 28 August 2026. She claimed that the suspect hurt the child, which led to her death.

Police investigations suggest that the suspect accused the girl of being a witch. This accusation seems to have led to the tragic events.

The Police Public Relations Officer confirmed that Saviour Otu Adim is now in police custody. The remains of Miss Goodness Okon have been sent to a mortuary for an autopsy.

Akata mentioned that the case has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar. They will carry out further investigations.

He also urged the public to protect children. People should report any cases of abuse quickly. He advised against spreading unverified information or taking the law into their own hands.
