The Nigeria Police Force has arrested Rochas Okorocha, a former governor of Imo State.
Okorocha, who also served as a senator for Imo West, was picked up on Monday night at the REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja.
Aniete Iniedu, the police spokesperson, shared this news with Channels TV.
Iniedu, a chief superintendent of police, said the former governor was released on bail after being questioned for one hour.
The spokesperson explained that Okorocha's arrest was due to claims of criminal conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation against him.
He mentioned that Okorocha was asked to return to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday for further questioning as investigations into the claims continue.
Okorocha, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had missed earlier invitations from the police regarding these allegations, which led to his arrest.
He was first invited to the Force Headquarters on 2 September, but his lawyers requested to reschedule to 8 September.
Despite this, he reportedly did not show up on the new date.
