The police in Kwara State are looking for the driver and motor boy of a Conoil truck. This follows the death of a student from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. His body was reportedly handed over to the truck crew after a road incident.

The student, identified as Sheu, went missing on Friday. He borrowed a motorcycle from his brother to buy clothes for his side business.

PUNCH Metro learned that the family’s search led them to find his body on a bridge in Oko-Olowo. This happened after he was initially treated as an unidentified person and buried.

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, confirmed this on Tuesday. He said they are working to arrest the truck driver and his motor boy.
"Yes, we are trying to arrest the drivers now," Adekimi told journalists.

The incident reportedly took place near the Government Secondary School area of Ilorin. The student’s body was later discovered on a bridge in Oko-Olowo.

Adekimi mentioned the police initially treated the body as that of an unidentified person. They later contacted the family for identification.
"We later discovered an abandoned corpse on top of a bridge and sent the picture to the family of the deceased for identification.
"But before then, it was classified as an unknown corpse and had to be buried. The body was later exhumed, and they confirmed it was him," the commissioner said.

The family began to worry when Sheu did not return home with the borrowed motorcycle. A relative said the motorcycle owner called Sheu’s phone after 9 pm, but an unknown person answered.

According to the relative, a voice in the background asked why the call was answered before the line went dead. Attempts to reach Sheu failed, leading the family to search for him until they heard about the body found in Oko-Olowo.

The family alleged that a tricycle operator named Basit witnessed the incident. He reportedly took Sheu to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Basit allegedly claimed to be the deceased’s brother before handing the body to the Conoil truck crew.

The police commissioner confirmed Basit’s arrest. He said the operator admitted to giving the body to the truck driver but claimed he did not know where it went afterward.

The family wants the police to find out what happened with the body transfer. They want to know if the operator acted out of ignorance or for money.
"We want justice and to establish whether the operator handed over the body out of ignorance or for financial gain. The Commissioner of Police has directed that they produce the drivers of the Conoil truck," a relative said.

The family also revealed that the motorcycle borrowed by Sheu was found at the Kulende Police Station during their search.
