Port Harcourt will be the venue for the 2026 Nigeria Premier Basketball League Final 4 from September 20 to 22. This change comes after a venue clash which made organisers shift the dates of the tournament.
The Nigeria Basketball Federation shared this news in a statement on Sunday, signed by Babatunde Ogunade, the men’s Premier League chairman, and Amina Amanchi, the NBBF Secretary General.
The NBBF stated that there will be technical meetings for the teams on September 19. This is ahead of three days of games from September 20 to 22, with teams leaving on the 23rd.
The tournament will feature four teams competing in a round-robin format. This setup will showcase the top clubs in Nigeria as they compete for the 2026 NPBL title and a spot in the 2027 Basketball Africa League.
Rivers Hoopers, with six championships to their name, made it to the Final 4. They topped the playoffs with a 6-1 record and a better points differential than the defending champions, Maktown Flyers, who also had a 6-1 record.
Gboko City Chiefs and Aso Sky Hawks secured the third and fourth spots respectively, each finishing with a 5-2 record.
At the end of the three-day tournament, the team that comes out on top in the round-robin standings will be named the 2026 NPBL champion.
