Mariam Ileyemi, a journalist with PREMIUM TIMES, has been nominated for the Outstanding Health Investigation Award. This is ahead of the 2026 Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) Annual Awards.

The nomination was shared on Monday in the Media and Innovative Health Communication category. Ms Ileyemi is among the top three nominees.

She got the nod for her open-source investigation, “Social media, anonymous websites drive Nigeria’s poorly regulated weight-loss injection market.” This report looked at how weight-loss injections are sold without prescriptions. It also found a network of anonymous websites promoting these injections, including retatrutide, which is still in clinical trials.

PSHAN says the Outstanding Health Investigation Award is for investigations that reveal systemic healthcare issues. Ms Ileyemi is in the running with Sadeeq Atanda from the Foundation for Investigative Journalism. She is also up against Yemisi Adegoke, Chigozie Nwonwu, and Lina Shaikhouni from BBC/BBC Eye.

An expert panel of judges will pick the winner for each award. They will announce the results at the Annual Awards and Gala Night on 20 November 2026.
