Home-grown e-hailing platform ProTaxi has started operations in Abuja. This service offers commuters a way to travel using electric vehicles while also creating jobs for drivers and their families.
ProTaxi is an initiative from Promiseland. The company focuses on using technology and innovation to help people move from poverty to prosperity. They aim to create jobs that can support families.
The launch took place in Abuja on Thursday. It brought together guests and stakeholders as PromiseLand Innovation introduced the ProTaxi ride service, which is centered on electric vehicles.
The company earlier announced plans to onboard 1,000 drivers with electric cars. This initiative aims to provide income opportunities for drivers and support their families.
At the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of PromiseLand Innovation, Ambassador Emmanuel Lawrence Oloche, explained that ProTaxi is part of the organisation’s vision to help people rise from poverty through innovation and technology.
“That question is at the heart of why Promiseland Innovation was born,” Oloche said.
He mentioned that people’s situations should not define their futures. He added that giving the right tools, chances, and environment can change lives.
Oloche introduced ProTaxi as more than just another e-hailing app. He said it is meant to create opportunities and change lives.
“Today, we introduce a ProTaxi that is not just another e-hailing application. It is a platform that creates opportunity and changes destiny,” he said.
He emphasized that behind every ProTaxi ride is a driver with a family relying on that income.
“Every time a passenger takes a ProTaxi ride, there is a driver behind the wheel.
“And behind the wheel, you have a driver with a family,” he said.
Oloche explained that the money earned by drivers can help their families with basic needs like school fees and rent.
“That is to say, for every ride that is booked, a child’s school fee is paid. A house rent is paid.
“And a dream is fulfilled for a better future to be built,” he said.
He pointed out that they want to create opportunities for thousands of drivers. He believes this will help not just the drivers but also their families and communities.
“We believe that when we create opportunities for thousands of drivers, we are not watching families, but we are reshaping communities,” Oloche said.
He added that their vision goes beyond Nigeria. PromiseLand Innovation wants to build an African tech company that can change lives and compete on a global scale.
“Our mission is to build an African technology company that will transform everyday living and eventually compete with the best in the world,” he said.
Oloche described the launch as part of Promiseland Innovation's commitment to using technology to improve lives.
“The future is not what you wait for. The future is what you work towards every day,” he said.
He also mentioned that ProTaxi aims to provide an affordable way for Nigerians to travel using electric vehicles.
He said this platform is another step towards creating job opportunities for families.
“ProTaxi to me is yet another vision being fulfilled, a vision to provide opportunity for families to earn, to provide opportunity to families to be able to earn a living,” he said.
He stated that this initiative will bring chances for thousands of families.
Gift Emmanuel, Executive Director of Promiseland Estate, also spoke at the event. She said the goal of this initiative is to help the masses.
She noted that while they have started in Abuja, they plan to expand to other states.
“The vision is to help the masses. And, at least, he’s here in Abuja now, and we are moving to other states to help other people too,” she said.
The launch marks the beginning of ProTaxi’s operations in Abuja. The company is set to implement its driver empowerment program and expand its electric vehicle services.
Prince Adetokunbo Ademola Ade-John, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Transportation and Mobility, praised the initiative and commended Oloche for the project.
He said this effort is part of the President’s vision for transportation and mobility.
Ade-John noted that ProTaxi aligns with the administration’s goals for the transportation sector while applauding the CEO for launching the initiative.
