Members of the Take-It-Back Movement protested on Monday at Mokola Roundabout in Ibadan, Oyo State. They were upset about the rising insecurity in the state and the continued captivity of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

The protesters gathered at this busy junction in the state capital. They urged the government and security agencies to work harder to secure the release of the victims. They also wanted more action against the increasing cases of kidnapping in Oyo State.

Holding placards with different messages, the demonstrators showed their worry about the growing insecurity. This issue affects everyone including residents, farmers, traders, and students.

Some of the placards read, “Security for all, not for a few,” “Government must end kidnapping in Oyo State,” “We demand safer roads and communities,” “Protect farmers, traders and students,” and “Peace, security and justice.”

One of the protesters spoke about the frustration many Nigerians feel due to the ongoing security problems. “Let them know that the people of Nigeria are not at peace. Let them know that the people of Oyo State are not smiling. Let them know that the Nigerian people are fed up with insecurity,” the protester stated.

This demonstration happened as anger grew over the kidnapping of pupils, students, and teachers during attacks on schools in the Ahoro-Esiele community of Oriire Local Government Area. The victims were taken when armed men invaded schools and nearby areas, causing worry among residents and parents.

The families of the abducted have often asked the Oyo State Government and security agencies to step up their rescue efforts. They want to see their loved ones return home safely.

The protest also followed many emotional pleas from family members who are frustrated by the long captivity of the pupils and teachers. They have been waiting for answers and action from the authorities.
