Despite the heavy rain on Monday, protesters from the Take-It-Back Movement took to the Oyo State Government House in Ibadan. They are calling for urgent action to tackle rising insecurity and the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The protesters gathered at Mokola Roundabout before marching through different parts of Ibadan. They made their way to the Government House, determined to make their voices heard.
Carrying placards and singing solidarity songs, they showed that the rain would not stop them. They see this protest as a civic duty to highlight the struggles of families affected by these crimes.
Some of the placards had messages like: “Security for all, not for a few,” “End kidnapping in Oyo State now,” “Safer roads and communities now,” and “Protect farmers, traders and students.”
The protest reflects the growing anger among the public over the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area. Armed men have been invading schools and taking victims, which has raised serious concerns in the community.
