Rangers International, the champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League, celebrated their 2025/26 trophy parade on the streets of Enugu on Tuesday. This event marked their ninth league title, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Rangers won the 2025/26 NPFL title on Sunday, May 24. They defeated Ikorodu City 2-1 in a thrilling final match against Rivers United in Lagos.
The players and officials paraded through various parts of Enugu before wrapping up at Okpara Square.
Their schedule also included a stop at the Government House. There, they were welcomed by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah.
Championship Victory
The Flying Antelopes knew they had to win against Ikorodu City, who had not lost at home before that day, to claim the championship. They succeeded, securing their ninth league title, even with Rivers United winning 3-0 against Katsina United in Port Harcourt.
Rangers topped the table with 68 points, just one point ahead of second-placed Rivers United.
Historic Achievement
This victory adds another chapter to Rangers’ rich history. They had earlier won the league in 1974, 1975, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1984, 2016, and 2023/24. Their success solidifies their position as one of the most successful clubs in Nigerian football.
Now, Rangers are tied with Enyimba for the most league titles, each having nine in the history of the Nigerian top-flight.
