Barcelona's Brazilian forward Raphinha celebrated scoring his team's fifth goal and a hat-trick during the La Liga match against Racing Santander at Camp Nou in Barcelona on September 16, 2026.

Raphinha scored a hat-trick as La Liga leaders Barcelona crushed Racing Santander 7-2 on Wednesday.

Atletico Madrid also had a strong performance, beating Osasuna 4-0 to build confidence before their derby match against Real Madrid this Sunday.

Levante’s game with Athletic Bilbao was called off just before kick-off because of heavy rain and a waterlogged pitch in Valencia.

On Tuesday, Real Madrid had caught up with Barcelona after a 3-2 win against Elche, but Barcelona regained their three-point lead with a flurry of goals against Racing, who are placed 10th.

Along with Raphinha’s three goals, Joao Cancelo, Gabriel Jesus, and Lamine Yamal also scored for the powerful Catalan team, who have scored 33 goals in seven matches across all competitions.

“For me, the most important thing is that we are always focused, with every pass. It’s like conversation, a good conversation,” Barca coach Hansi Flick told DAZN.

Despite the great start to the season, Raphinha said he wants to push himself and his teammates even more.
“It’s always important to think you need to improve in some way,” Raphinha told DAZN.

“So I’ll never tell you I’m at my best level, because I always try to improve as much as I can, and give more to the team than I am given.”

With lightning flashing above Camp Nou, Barca took the lead with a powerful shot from Cancelo. Raphinha then won and scored a penalty for Barca’s second goal.

Racing Santander managed to pull one back when Maguette Gueye broke through and finished neatly to beat Barca goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

But this was just a brief moment of relief for the visitors. Cancelo scored again with a long-range effort that deflected in off Asier Villalibre.

Raphinha, excelling as Barca’s centre-forward, scored Barca’s fourth after being set up by Dani Olmo.

Teenage star Yamal should have scored a fifth goal after Karim Adeyemi was fouled in the box, but Julen Agirrezabala saved his penalty.

Barca’s reserve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny replaced Garcia at half-time after the Spain international slipped on the wet pitch while trying to get the ball.

Flick mentioned that the goalkeeper had “some problems” with his knee but hoped he would be fit for the weekend match.

Yamal hit the post and later had a goal disallowed for offside as the rain poured down in the second half.

Yassir Zabiri scored another goal for Racing after a bad mistake from Szczesny, who lost the ball right in front of his goal.

Barcelona’s fifth goal came quickly after another penalty was awarded when Adeyemi was fouled again.

Raphinha completed his hat-trick from the spot for his ninth league goal, extending his lead as the league’s top scorer.

He was then replaced by compatriot Gabriel Jesus, who scored the sixth with a sharp shot into the top corner after being assisted by Yamal. Yamal then scored the seventh after receiving a pass from Adeyemi.
