Rita Daniels, mother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has shut down rumors that her daughter made up with her estranged husband, Delta North senator Ned Nwoko, after visiting him recently.
Rita explained that Regina went to his house to see her children. She stressed that the visit doesn’t mean the couple has reconciled.
Rumors about Regina and Mr Nwoko came up again on social media over the weekend. This happened after people spotted the actress at his home, months after their public marital crisis and separation.
PREMIUM TIMES reported earlier that during their separation, the couple exchanged serious accusations. Both of them publicly claimed many things against each other.
Mr Nwoko accused Regina of drug addiction and said she damaged his property, among other allegations. Regina, on her part, claimed that the senator was spreading lies to damage her name and painted her family as bad influences while hiding his own faults.
She also said that Mr Nwoko controlled her and cut her off from her family. Regina added that their marriage was never legally formalized, among other claims.
Speculation about a reconciliation started after a video of Regina at Mr Nwoko’s house went viral.
Her visit sparked reactions from Nigerians, including celebrities who had openly supported her during their messy separation.
Some social media users claimed that Regina and the senator had secretly gotten back together, while others suggested she might be pregnant.
This news also made some of her fans say they would no longer get involved in the issues between the couple.
Actor Stanley “Stanley Ontop” Ajemba, a key supporter of Regina during the crisis, criticized her in an Instagram post. He questioned why she went back to Mr Nwoko’s house.
Mr Ajemba said he defended Regina publicly during their fight and claimed that it nearly got him jailed.
He expressed anger that Regina didn’t tell him about the visit and said he won’t get involved in their issues again.
In the middle of the backlash and rumors about a reconciliation, Rita stated that Regina was only at Mr Nwoko’s house to see her children.
She shared this during an Instagram chat with actor Uche Maduagwu, who later posted their conversation online.
“It is well, my dear. She was invited to see her children; that was what happened. Thanks a lot for your support and concern,” Rita said.
This explanation was similar to what Regina’s sister, Destiny Daniels, had said earlier. Destiny mentioned that Regina was allowed to visit her kids and is still single.
Destiny also dismissed claims that Regina was pregnant, saying her change in appearance was just due to weight gain.
Regina and Mr Nwoko had a traditional marriage ceremony in Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State on 26 May 2019.
They have two sons together: Munir, born in 2020, and Khalifa, born in 2022.
