Portugal’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo made history by entering the top 10 of all-time FIFA World Cup goalscorers. He scored twice in his team’s big 5-0 win over Uzbekistan on Tuesday night.
The 41-year-old found the net in the sixth and 39th minutes. This took his World Cup goals to 10. He is now the first player ever to score in six different World Cup tournaments.
Ronaldo's two goals also allowed him to surpass the nine-goal World Cup record set by Portuguese legend Eusébio.
On the other hand, Lionel Messi is still the tournament's all-time leading scorer. He has 18 goals, having passed Germany’s Miroslav Klose earlier in the tournament.
France's Kylian Mbappé is second among active players with 16 goals. He is tied with Klose’s previous record of 16.
