Sola Ebiseni Leaves Labour Party, Joins APC

A former South-West Coordinator of the Labour Party's Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 election, Sola Ebiseni, has left the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ebiseni, who is also the Secretary-General of Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba group, announced his support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 presidential election.

He shared this news during a visit to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at the Government House in Akure on Thursday.

Ebiseni stated that he and his supporters have been added to the APC campaign team as they prepare for the upcoming 2027 elections.

Aiyedatiwa welcomed Ebiseni and his supporters, noting that Ebiseni's political experience and his involvement with Afenifere and other groups would boost the campaign for Tinubu’s re-election.

The governor said, "Chief Ebiseni’s position as Secretary-General of Afenifere and his activities in other sociocultural organisations are an added advantage to the tasks ahead. He and his supporters would no doubt add value to the President’s re-election campaign, to which the APC and the people of Ondo State are absolutely committed."

Aiyedatiwa continued, "We know you, Ebiseni, as one of our leaders in the state, and your political activities across the state and your roles in Afenifere and other sociocultural organisations in the country will be an added advantage and value to the tasks ahead of us."

He also mentioned that the APC state chairman's presence at the meeting was to reassure Ebiseni and his supporters of their integration into the party’s campaign team for the upcoming elections.

After the meeting, Ebiseni spoke to journalists and explained that his choice to support Tinubu’s second-term bid was for the nation’s benefit.

"I can assure you that I am just the forerunner for a group of Nigerians who have quietly moved across the six geopolitical zones in the last year. We have also engaged with political gladiators in the process," he stated.

Ebiseni said the group's findings, which influenced their decision to support Tinubu, will be shared with the public soon.

"Our findings, which informed our declaration for the President’s second term, will be made public in greater detail soon," he added.

He emphasized, "Above all, particularly in the area of security, it is in the national interest to support the current Commander-in-Chief and build on his new salutary security architecture, rather than experimenting with a new architecture and design."
