Lamine Yamal scored a goal for Spain as they crushed Saudi Arabia 4-0 on Sunday. This victory helped the European champions get back on track in their World Cup journey.
Yamal, who is 18 years old, kicked off the scoring just 10 minutes into the Group H match in Atlanta. This goal set the tone for a comfortable win against a Saudi team that struggled throughout the game.
Spain wanted to bounce back after a surprising 0-0 draw with Cape Verde in their first match last week. That game saw their strong attack fail to score.
With Yamal starting his first match in two months after recovering from a hamstring injury, Spain quickly took control. They launched an attack that left the Saudi players stunned.
Yamal found space at the back post to finish Mikel Oyarzabal’s low cross. Oyarzabal then scored two goals in just three minutes, putting Spain ahead 3-0 in the first 24 minutes.
Spain added their fourth goal in the second half, just four minutes in. Marc Cucurella’s shot was saved by Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed al-Owais. The ball then hit defender Hassan al-Tambakti and went into the net.
This win puts Spain at the top of Group H with four points after playing two matches.
