The Television Academy has announced the nominees for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt leads with 25 nominations.

The nominations were revealed in Los Angeles on Wednesday. They recognize television shows that aired from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026. Actors Liza Colón-Zayas from The Bear and Jeff Hiller from Somebody Somewhere, along with Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego, announced the nominees.

Following The Pitt, comedy series Hacks got 24 nominations, making it the comedy series with the most nominations in one year. Apple TV+’s new show Widow’s Bay received 19 nominations. Pluribus got 18 nominations, while Beef earned 16.

HBO Max had a strong showing this year, with about 122 nominations across its programs. Netflix followed with around 111 nominations, and Apple TV+ had about 87.

Cris Abrego said, "This year’s nominees represent the extraordinary creativity and artistry that make television such a dynamic form of entertainment. The breadth of work recognized this year, from intimate character-driven comedies and satires to fantasy, thrillers, and costume dramas, demonstrates that great storytelling knows no bounds. We’re proud to celebrate the artists and craftspeople behind these remarkable achievements, and look forward to honoring them at the Emmys this September."

The awards ceremony will take place on 14 September 2026. It will be broadcast live on NBC and streamed on Peacock. Actress Mariska Hargitay, famous for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, will host the event. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will happen on 5 and 6 September.
