The Pitt tops Emmy Awards nominations with 25 nods

Medical drama series The Pitt is leading the nominations for the 78th Emmy Awards with 25 nods. It is ahead of the comedy series Hacks, which got 24 nominations.

Horror-comedy series Widow’s Bay is already making waves at the awards, winning eight prizes in mostly technical categories before the main event on Monday night in Los Angeles.

PUNCH Online reports that the Emmy Awards are one of the top prizes in television. They celebrate great achievements in acting, writing, directing and production across television and streaming shows.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences gives out these awards each year. They cover drama, comedy, limited or anthology series, and other areas. Winners are chosen by members of the television academy.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will hold at the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, California, on Monday, September 14, 2026. Mariska Hargitay will host the ceremony.

Widow’s Bay has a total of 19 nominations. Pluribus follows with 18 nominations, and Beef has 16.

In the Outstanding Drama Series category, nominees include The Diplomat, The Gilded Age, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Paradise, The Pitt, Pluribus, Slow Horses, and Your Friends & Neighbors.

The nominees for Outstanding Comedy Series are Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking, and Widow’s Bay.

In the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series category, the nominees are All Her Fault, The Beast in Me, Beef, DTF St. Louis, and Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.

In drama acting, the nominees for Lead Actor are Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Mark Ruffalo (Task), Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat), and Noah Wyle (The Pitt).

For Lead Actress, the nominees are Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age), Chase Infiniti (The Testaments), Keri Russell (The Diplomat), Rhea Seehorn (Pluribus), and Zendaya (Euphoria).

In comedy, the Lead Actor nominees include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Wonder Man), Steve Carell (Rooster), Matthew Rhys (Widow’s Bay), Jason Segel (Shrinking), and Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building).

The Lead Actress nominees in comedy are Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), Elle Fanning (Margo’s Got Money Troubles), Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback), and Jean Smart (Hacks).

For the limited or anthology series or movie category, the Lead Actor nominees are Riz Ahmed (Bait), Jason Bateman (Black Rabbit), Charlie Hunnam (Monster: The Ed Gein Story), Oscar Isaac (Beef), and Matthew Rhys (The Beast in Me).

The Lead Actress nominees are Claire Danes (The Beast in Me), Sally Field (Remarkably Bright Creatures), Carey Mulligan (Beef), Sarah Pidgeon (Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette), and Sarah Snook (All Her Fault).

The Pitt also shines in the supporting acting categories. Nominees include Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy, Gerran Howell, and Katherine LaNasa.

Notable supporting nominees include Billy Crudup and Jack Lowden in drama, Colman Domingo, Harrison Ford, Michael Urie, and Tyler James Williams in comedy, and David Harbour and Linda Cardellini in limited or anthology series or movie categories.

The awards for supporting actors in a limited series were given out during the pre-ceremonies.
