Tinubu Names Fayose and 28 Others to Key Positions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named 26 new appointees to 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions. Former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose will chair the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). Major General Junaid Bindawa is now the chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

Mr Fayose will lead the REA board, which includes Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The current Director-General of the agency, Abba Aliyu, stays on the board along with three executive directors who were appointed earlier.

President Tinubu made eight other appointments to the Wages Commission. Major General Bindawa is joined by Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas as the new secretary of the commission. Ogbole Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, and Yakubu Barde will represent Benue, Oyo, and Kaduna as commissioners.

Adamu Yau from Borno, Ginika Florence Tor from Enugu, Lawrence Okoh from Edo, and Bello Iyabode from Kogi were also named as members of the Commission.

Tosin Adeyanju has been moved from Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission as Secretary.

President Tinubu appointed Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission. Akinola Odeyemi will serve as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET). Anthony Godwin is the new chairman and CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission. Julius Oloro, a former council chairman, is now the CEO of the Kwara-based National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM). He replaces A.R. Kamal, who passed away last January.

The President also set up the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, with Abdullahi Saidu as chairman. The board members include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Makama, Suleiman Gidado, Louis Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Onikola.

Shuni Dahiru is now the executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. He replaces Shu’aibu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.

To fill the spot of Mathias Byuan, the former executive director of finance at the Federal Housing Authority, who resigned to run for governor in Benue State, President Tinubu has appointed Gisaor Iorja. Iorja is an economist, legal scholar, and academic who currently serves as the secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).

All these appointments take effect immediately.
