Former Governor of Abia State and Senator for Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances in Osun State are “very bright” as the 2027 general elections approach.
Kalu mentioned that the President will receive strong backing from various political groups, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party in Osun State.
He made this known in a statement released by his media team on Sunday. This followed President Tinubu’s message congratulating Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election.
Kalu congratulated Governor Adeleke on his win and also expressed sympathy to the APC leadership and their governorship candidate regarding the election results.
“I join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as the Governor of Osun State. I also sympathise with the APC leadership, our party’s governorship candidate and all our supporters over the outcome of the election,” he said.
The former governor also thanked the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and ex-Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, for his key contributions to the state’s growth.
Kalu noted that the results of the Osun governorship election show democracy at work and should be respected by everyone involved.
“What happened in Osun is democracy in play. Elections are about the choice of the people, and as a party, we should be able to come back stronger,” he said.
He insisted that the election results should not be seen as a setback for President Tinubu. He believes that the President’s political future in Osun is still very strong as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
Kalu urged political leaders and supporters to stay dedicated to the democratic process and to keep working towards Nigeria’s progress and unity.
