National football federations are spending big money as they aim for World Cup success. Brazil's coach Carlo Ancelotti is the highest-paid coach for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ancelotti earns £8.28 million each year. This puts him far ahead of other coaches in the tournament.
The former Real Madrid manager recently took over Brazil. He is set to lead the team in their quest for a record sixth World Cup title.
England's coach Thomas Tuchel is second on the list with an annual salary of £5.06 million. He took over from Gareth Southgate after England’s near misses in past tournaments.
Tuchel’s job is to help England finally win a major international title.
In third place is Mauricio Pochettino, the coach of the United States. He makes £4.53 million each year. Pochettino has coached Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea before.
He will lead the host nation in their World Cup campaign.
Germany’s Julian Nagelsmann is fourth, earning £4.2 million per year. Portugal's coach Roberto Martinez and Uzbekistan’s Fabio Cannavaro are tied for fifth place, each earning £3.5 million annually.
Cannavaro’s high salary raises eyebrows. This is because Uzbekistan is not known as a strong football nation. He was hired after Uzbekistan qualified for their first World Cup.
France’s manager Didier Deschamps, who led his team to victory in 2018, earns £3.31 million each year, placing him seventh.
The list is completed by Argentina’s Lionel Scaloni, Uruguay’s Marcelo Bielsa, and Ronald Koeman from the Netherlands, with each making £2.61 million annually.
The rankings show how much money football federations are investing to get top coaches who can bring success at the World Cup.
