Trabzonspor sticks to its price for Nwaiwu

Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, and Fulham have all tried to sign Chibuike Nwaiwu. But Trabzonspor is not lowering their asking price for the Super Eagles defender.

The 23-year-old centre-back has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs after a strong first six months in Turkey. Despite interest from clubs in England and Italy, Trabzonspor is firm on their price and will keep him unless their valuation is met.

PUNCH Sports Extra reported that the defender agreed to personal terms with Fulham last month. But the Cottagers could not meet Trabzonspor's asking price.

Fulham first offered €20m, but Trabzonspor rejected it right away. They then came back with a better offer of €25m, plus an additional €3m based on performance-related add-ons.

With Fulham unable to finalize a deal, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, and Italian club Napoli are still showing interest. They hope to join the race if things change.

Trabzonspor has made it clear that they will not sell Nwaiwu unless a club pays at least €30m.

Reports say that Nwaiwu is open to a move to the Premier League. He hopes this would help him secure a spot in Nigeria’s national team for future international matches. But Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan insists the club will not accept offers below their value.

“The offers we received for Chibuike Nwaiwu were far below our expectations. Under these circumstances, we are absolutely not considering selling him,” Doğan said according to Gundem Artvin.

He also mentioned that Trabzonspor has not seen an offer close to their expected price for the Nigerian defender.

“The offers were insufficient; the player is staying with the team.”

Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC in January 2026 for about €5.5m. Since then, his value has gone up after a great second half of the season.

He quickly became a regular starter and helped Trabzonspor win the Turkish Cup. He played in 21 competitive matches, scoring three goals and providing one assist. His skill to play as both a central defender and a defensive midfielder has made him more attractive.
