Tragic Discovery in Osun as Farmer is Found Hanging

A young man from Benue, known only as Saviour, was found hanging in Orile-Owu, Osun State. This has caused a lot of worry in the farming community.

Sources in Orile-Owu, who asked to remain anonymous for safety, reported that Saviour's body was discovered hanging from a tree in the Alagbede Area on Thursday.

It was also revealed that Saviour had been missing recently but was located later.

A local resident named Kareem shared his thoughts with PUNCH in a phone call. He described Saviour as a friendly person.

"This news is very shocking to us. I knew him well. He was a friendly person from Benue State.

"He came to Orile-Owu to work as a farmhand. He had been missing for some time but came back a few days ago. I heard plans were in place to send him back to Benue by the end of this year.

"It is really sad that he died like this. We found his body hanging from a tree this morning. We have already reported it to the police. Officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps also came here to see the body and talk to people about it," Kareem said.

When reached for comment, Abiodun Ojelabi, the Public Relations Officer for Osun State Police Command, confirmed the incident.

Ojelabi stated that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, has ordered a full investigation into the matter.

"The incident was reported to us. The deceased was 20 years old and from Benue State. Officers have gone to the scene.

"The Commissioner of Police has instructed the DPO in charge of the area to look into this case. The case has also been sent to the SCID for further investigation," Ojelabi said.
