A tricycle rider known as IK has been accused of killing his partner and mother of two during a fight. He reportedly ran away, leaving her body with their children in Ogbogoro Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

This incident took place along CPM Street in Ogbogoro on Tuesday. It shocked the community as many residents gathered to see the tragic scene and confirm the sad news.

The reason for the argument is still unclear. A local resident named Senibo told reporters that neighbours and passers-by rushed to the scene after spotting the dead woman and two toddlers inside the tricycle.

Senibo explained, "It was around 7 a.m. when residents noticed something disturbing along the street. Two young girls, both under six, and the lifeless body of a woman were found inside a stationary tricycle."

He added, "Policemen from the Ozuoba Police Division were contacted immediately. They arrived and started questioning the older child. The child told them how her father beat their mother with an object at a guest house where they stayed on Monday night."

The witness further said the child revealed that after seeing their mother unable to stand or speak, the suspect took them out of the guest house. He then left the children and their mother's body in the tricycle before fleeing to avoid being caught.

Our correspondent learned that the police later reached out to the deceased's sister, who came to identify the body. The remains were taken to a mortuary for preservation and further investigation.

The late woman's sister has now taken care of the two children.

When asked about the incident, Rivers State Police Command spokesperson Blessing Agabe confirmed it, saying they are investigating to catch the suspect and bring him to justice.

Agabe, who is an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the Ozuoba Police Division got a distress call from a passer-by who saw the two children and a woman who seemed lifeless inside a blue tricycle parked on the roadside. This led to quick action by the police.

The ASP stated, "The Ozuoba Police Division patrol team quickly moved to the scene. They found the lifeless body of a woman and two children aged about five years and six months, respectively."

He added, "The suspect left the children and the woman's body in the tricycle before running away. We are still investigating to catch him and ensure he faces the law."

ASP Agabe also confirmed that the two children are currently with their deceased mother's sister.
