Governor Uba Sani has signed three new laws to change the energy, agriculture, and environmental sectors in Kaduna State.

A statement from the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, listed the laws as the Kaduna State Electricity Law, 2026, the Kaduna State Agricultural Development Fund (KADFund) Law, 2025, and the Kaduna State Climate Change Advisory Board Law, 2026.

Dr. Mustapha Musa, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Legal and Legislative Matters, described these laws as major reforms for governance.

He added that the laws will improve energy access, boost agricultural growth, enhance climate resilience, and promote sustainable economic development through strong institutions.

The statement explained that the Kaduna State Electricity Law, 2026 will set up the Kaduna State Electricity Regulatory Commission. This body will manage electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and supply within the state.

The Commissioner mentioned that the Electricity Law will encourage private sector investment, support renewable energy projects, and improve electricity access.

Mr. Maiyaki said the KADFund Law, 2025 will create a special funding system to help farmers, cooperatives, agribusinesses, and others in the agricultural value chain. This will include grants, soft loans, technical help, and investments in key infrastructure to boost food security and farming productivity.

He also shared that the Kaduna State Climate Change Advisory Board Law, 2026 will form a state-level plan for climate action, environmental sustainability, raising climate finance, and including climate issues in development planning. This will strengthen Kaduna's commitment to sustainable development.

Mr. Maiyaki added that these three laws show the government's vision of building strong institutions that can promote inclusive growth, attract investment, create opportunities, and provide lasting benefits to the people.

He noted that these new laws reflect Governor Uba Sani's commitment to setting up a prosperous, sustainable, and competitive Kaduna State through reforms in the electricity sector, agricultural changes, and governance that responds to climate issues.

He stated that these reforms create the necessary framework to boost food security, improve living conditions, and make Kaduna a model for innovation, sustainable development, and effective state governance.
