Governor Uba Sani has signed three new laws to change the energy, farming, and environmental sectors in Kaduna State.
A statement from the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, listed the laws as the Kaduna State Electricity Law, 2026, the Kaduna State Agricultural Development Fund (KADFund) Law, 2025, and the Kaduna State Climate Change Advisory Board Law, 2026.
The statement quoted Dr. Mustapha Musa, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Legal and Legislative Matters to the Governor. He called these laws the most important reform packages for governance.
Dr. Musa said the laws aim to increase energy access, boost farming growth, strengthen climate resilience, and support sustainable economic development with strong institutions.
The statement noted that the Kaduna State Electricity Law, 2026 sets up the Kaduna State Electricity Regulatory Commission. This body will manage electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and supply in the State.
The Commissioner added that the Electricity Law will open doors for private investment, renewable energy growth, and better access to electricity.
Mr. Maiyaki explained that the KADFund Law, 2025 creates a funding system to help farmers, cooperatives, agribusinesses, and others in the agricultural value chain. This support comes through grants, low-interest loans, technical help, and investment in key infrastructure to improve food security and farming output.
He also mentioned that the Kaduna State Climate Change Advisory Board Law, 2026 sets up a framework for climate action, environmental sustainability, and climate finance in the State. This law will help integrate climate issues into development planning, showing Kaduna’s commitment to sustainable growth.
Mr. Maiyaki said these three laws show the administration’s goal of building strong institutions that can promote inclusive growth, attract investment, create more opportunities, and bring lasting benefits to the people.
He added that these important laws reflect Governor Uba Sani’s promise to lay the groundwork for a successful, sustainable, and competitive Kaduna State. This will happen through changes in the electricity sector, farming reform, and climate-focused governance.
According to him, the reforms will create the needed structure to enhance food security, raise living standards, and make Kaduna a leader in innovation, sustainable growth, and effective governance at the state level.
