The United States has successfully defended their Women’s Basketball World Cup title. They beat France 97-79 in the final on Sunday.
France started strong, putting pressure on the Americans in the early part of the game. But as the game went on, the United States found their groove and took charge.
Breanna Stewart was the star for the USA, scoring 22 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Jackie Young also did well, contributing 18 points. Kahleah Copper and Caitlin Clark added 15 and 12 points respectively.
On the French side, Dominique Malonga was the top scorer with 21 points, while Gabby Williams finished with 20 points.
After halftime, the United States gained more control of the game. Their strong rebounding and effective offense helped them pull ahead of their European rivals.
France fought hard, but the Americans kept their cool in the final moments to secure another World Cup win.
This victory shows the United States’ stronghold on women’s international basketball. They successfully defended the title they won in the last tournament.
