Wolverhampton Wanderers had to call off a training session after striker Tolu Arokodare refused to leave the pitch. He was pushing to leave the club.
The Nigerian player reportedly sat down during the session and insisted that Wolves let him join Fiorentina. This came after the Premier League team turned down a bid from the Serie A club.
Wolves had already agreed to sell him to Trabzonspor in Turkey, but Arokodare seems to want to go to Fiorentina instead.
According to BBC Sports on Wednesday, the situation forced new Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto to end Monday’s training session as the team gets ready for the new season.
Arokodare will not play in Wednesday’s friendly against Maidenhead United while Wolves look into the matter.
This latest drama adds to a tough time for Arokodare at Molineux.
He faced discipline in April after an altercation with young forward Mateus Mane.
Arokodare joined Wolves from Genk for £24 million last summer but struggled to score, netting only three league goals. The club finished last in the Premier League and got relegated.
This situation is an early test for Peixoto, who took over from Rob Edwards last month. He is expected to lead Wolves back to the Premier League at the first chance.
