Wolves say no to Fiorentina's bid for Arokodare

Wolverhampton Wanderers have turned down a bid from Fiorentina for Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare. This news comes from journalist Fabrizio Romano, as reported by FirenzeViola. Arokodare has been getting attention from various European clubs this summer.

Fiorentina made an offer for the striker while looking for a wide attacker for their head coach Fabio Grosso. The club is exploring different options as they wait for updates on a potential deal for Luca Koleosho. But Wolves decided not to accept their proposal.

Arokodare is not an easy target for Fiorentina for several reasons. Trabzonspor has also shown interest in the Nigerian player. They were the first club to make an official offer, suggesting a loan deal to Wolves. Turkish journalist Zeki Uzundurukan reported that Trabzonspor sees the 24-year-old as a possible replacement for fellow Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu, who might leave the club this summer.

But there is a bigger challenge for any club interested in Arokodare, including Fiorentina and Trabzonspor. Reports say that Arokodare is not keen on moving at this time. He joined Wolves from Belgian club Genk in the summer of 2025. He signed a four-year contract with an option for another year. However, he had a tough first season in England, making 33 Premier League appearances, but only starting 13 games, with the rest coming off the bench.

Trabzonspor is also facing competition from other Turkish teams like Besiktas and Fenerbahce for Arokodare. Besiktas has reportedly had a €15m verbal offer rejected by Wolves. They are said to be reaching out to former Nigeria international Daniel Amokachi and Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to help convince Arokodare that moving to Turkey would be good for his career.

Wolves seem to prefer selling Arokodare permanently rather than loaning him out. They are hoping to recover much of the £24m they spent to sign him from Genk. However, his price tag makes a full transfer challenging for interested clubs. This leaves a loan move back to Europe as the more realistic option for teams like Trabzonspor.
