ADC group sets up North-West campaign team

The African Democratic Congress faction, led by Nafiu Gombe, has set up its North-West Campaign Council. This is part of its plan to strengthen its structure and mobilise for the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration took place after a meeting of the party’s North-West Zonal Caucus. This meeting included candidates for governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly positions, along with other stakeholders, in Sokoto State on Friday.

A statement from Dr Christopher Okechukwu, the Director of Media and Publicity and Spokesperson for the 2027 ADC Presidential Campaign Council, announced Alhaji Nuradeen Lawal Chindo as the chairman of the council. Dr Bello Shehu was named the secretary.

The meeting happened at Giginya Hotel in Sokoto. It aimed to align positions and create a strategy for the party ahead of the elections.

Okechukwu explained that the goal was to create a lasting political plan for the party. He said, "The high-level engagement is convened to deliberate, harmonise positions and chart a coherent, viable and sustainable political roadmap towards securing a decisive and resounding victory for the ADC in preparation for the 2027 general elections."

He also mentioned that the new council would manage the party’s campaign activities in the seven North-West states. Okechukwu added, "The NWCC will be chaired by Alhaji Nuradeen Lawal Chindo, with Dr Bello Shehu serving as secretary, to provide leadership, coordination and strategic direction for the party’s campaign activities across the zone."

Hon. Bala Sani Kumo, the Deputy Director-General (North) of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, led the inauguration. Chief Cletus Okoye, SAN, the Director of Legal and Litigation of the campaign council, administered the oath of office to the new members.

In his speech, Kumo urged the council to create an inclusive campaign, focusing on involving youths, women, and people with disabilities. He instructed the council to include these groups in its campaign activities and political engagements throughout the North-West.

The party has stated that it is committed to a campaign based on issues and driven by the people. It will focus on good governance, peace, and sustainable development.
