The African Democratic Congress has chosen Bello Ambarura, who represents Illela/Gwadabawa in the House of Representatives, as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Sokoto State.

The party shared the news in a statement on Monday. The statement was signed by Lamir Aminu, the Sokoto State Publicity Secretary. He mentioned that Ambarura will run alongside the ADC governorship candidate, Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya.

Aminu explained that the nomination came after the party held thorough discussions. It follows Section 187(1) of the 1999 Constitution.

He said the choice shows the party’s aim to provide a skilled and people-focused leadership team for the state. "The nomination was made following wide consultations and careful consideration of the qualities needed to build a strong, competent and people-oriented leadership team for Sokoto State," Aminu stated.

The party praised Ambarura as a knowledgeable administrator and a seasoned public servant. He advanced through the Sokoto State Civil Service to become a Permanent Secretary. Later, he served as Commissioner for Commerce and Industries.

Ambarura was elected to the Sokoto State House of Assembly in 2019. He held the position of Majority Leader until 2023 before winning a seat in the House of Representatives. He currently represents the Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency.

Aminu believes that Ambarura’s background in public administration and legislative work will enhance the party’s governorship ticket. "His extensive experience in public administration and legislative service will complement the vision and leadership of His Excellency, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan-Iya, as the ADC presents a capable, credible and people-centered ticket for the 2027 governorship election," he added.

The party congratulated Ambarura on his nomination. They urged party members, supporters and residents of Sokoto State to back the Dan-Iya/Ambarura ticket as the 2027 governorship election approaches.
