Adeleke's campaign speaks out against the alleged expulsion of Accord Party member

The campaign of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has raised concerns about the reported banishment of an Accord Party supporter, Ms Adeola Adegoke. This incident took place in Ilase, which is in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, and it is linked to her political affiliation.

A human rights lawyer named Pelumi Olajengbesi shared this news on Facebook. He claimed that Adegoke’s shop was looted. He also alleged that both she and her mother were called in and told to leave the community unless Adegoke agreed to support Senator Fadahunsi and Wole Oke politically.

According to Olajengbesi, Adegoke agreed to support Fadahunsi, but she refused to campaign for Wole Oke. After her refusal, she was reportedly told to leave Ilase.

Olajengbesi condemned this alleged action, calling it unacceptable for a democracy. He emphasized that political differences should not lead to intimidation, punishment, or loss of livelihood.

“We must never use political power or influence to intimidate, punish or destroy the livelihood of any citizen because of political differences,” he stated.

The lawyer specifically asked Fadahunsi and Wole Oke to respond to these allegations. He pointed out that their names were involved in the reported actions.

“If these actions were taken without their knowledge or authority, they must immediately call those responsible to order,” Olajengbesi said.

He insisted that no citizen should face intimidation, banishment, or loss of their livelihood due to their political choices.

“Politics must never descend to this level,” he added.

As of now, these allegations have not been verified independently. It is also unclear if Fadahunsi or Wole Oke have replied to the claims.

Olajengbesi urged political leaders to respect the rights of citizens. He warned that political disagreements should not turn into harassment or persecution.
