Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has announced she is ready for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. She also shared her personal fitness routine before the team’s official camp in Morocco, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Ajibade led Nigeria to a record 10th WAFCON title in Morocco last year. She was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
In the 2024 edition, held in July 2025, the Paris Saint-Germain F.C. Women player won three Player of the Match awards.
As this year’s tournament approaches, Ajibade is ready to lead the Super Falcons in another title chase. She has been working on her fitness in Mallorca, Spain, with her PSG teammate Jennifer Echegini and AS Roma Women forward Rinsola Babajide.
The Super Falcons are set to open camp in Morocco on July 15. The captain posted photos from her training sessions with her teammates.
“Off season, on purpose. Mallorca with Nike and 292 Performance. Ready for WAFCON 2026 for God’s glory,” Ajibade wrote on X.
Further investigation by our correspondent revealed that the off-season training camp, organized by 292 Performance, took place from June 8 to July 4.
Ajibade has also been active off the pitch. She is organizing coaching clinics and other programs for grassroots coaches and footballers in Nigeria.
The 26-year-old joined the Super Falcons in 2018 and won her first WAFCON title that same year.
Since then, she has represented Nigeria at three WAFCON tournaments, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the 2024 Summer Olympics.
For this year’s WAFCON, Nigeria is in Group C with Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt. Coach Justine Madugu’s team will kick off their campaign against Malawi, a first-time participant, in Rabat on Tuesday, July 28.
The 2026 WAFCON is set for July 25 to August 16 in Morocco. This tournament will also serve as a qualification round for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the tournament in Brazil. The best quarter-finalist will move on to the inter-confederation play-offs.
