APC Celebrates Wins in Four By-Elections

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has praised the party's four candidates who won in the recent legislative by-elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission held these elections on Saturday.

Yilwatda shared his congratulations on his X account on Sunday. He recognized Kallamu MaiJama’a, Husseini Datti, Okolosi Ator, and Yakubu Ali for their wins in Gombe, Kano, Delta, and Bauchi states, respectively.

The five by-elections took place across four states. This included one federal constituency and four state constituencies.

The APC secured four of the five seats. The Allied Peoples Movement won the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi State.

Yilwatda noted that these wins show the trust the people have in the party and its candidates. He said, “I warmly congratulate the four APC candidates who emerged victorious in the five legislative bye-elections conducted by INEC on Saturday, 19 September 2026.

“My congratulations go to: 1. Hon. Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a of Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Gombe State; 2. Hon. Husseini Datti of Dawakin Kudu State Constituency, Kano State; 3. Hon. Okolosi Ator of Udu State Constituency, Delta State; and 4. Hon. Yakubu Ali of Disina State Constituency, Bauchi State.

“These victories reflect the confidence placed in our candidates and the APC by the electorate. I commend our candidates, party leaders, state chapters, campaign teams and, most importantly, the voters for their commitment to the democratic process.

“I also commend INEC, the security agencies and all stakeholders for their roles in the conduct of the elections.”

In Gombe, Kallamu won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election with 41,121 votes. The Labour Party got 3,553 votes and the Allied Peoples Movement had 872 votes.

In Kano, Datti won the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency bye-election with 22,890 votes. The Peoples Redemption Party got 270 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party had 108 votes.

Ator won the Udu State Constituency bye-election in Delta with 8,724 votes. The PDP received 214 votes.

In Bauchi, Ali won the Disina State Constituency bye-election with 5,846 votes. The APM scored 5,225 votes and the PRP got 3,701 votes.

But the APM won the Sakwa State Constituency bye-election in Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State with 8,515 votes. The APC scored 3,771 votes, while the PDP and PRP received 2,076 and 727 votes, respectively.

The APC chairman told the winning candidates to stay dedicated to their people.

“To our victorious candidates, this victory is a call to service. I urge you to remain humble and committed to delivering purposeful representation to your constituents.

“On behalf of the APC National Working Committee, I congratulate our candidates and the entire APC family across the four states.

“Together, we remain united and committed to building a stronger APC in the service of Nigerians.”

The five by-elections took place in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State, Disina and Sakwa state constituencies in Bauchi State, and Udu State Constituency in Delta State.
