The All Progressives Congress will officially launch its National Campaign Council for the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election on Wednesday. This event will gather many key political figures from the party as they prepare for the election.
The launch will happen at the Kashim Shettima Hall in the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja at noon. This information was shared in a statement on Monday by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani will lead the campaign council as chairman. Senate President Godswill Akpabio will be the co-chairman. Senate Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has been named the council's secretary.
The ruling party said the council includes current and former governors, top officials from the National Assembly, and other senior party members. Their job is to coordinate and run the APC’s campaign activities ahead of the Ekiti governorship election.
This launch marks the start of the party's efforts to mobilise support across the state as it aims to keep its hold on power in the South-West region.
To improve campaign coordination, the APC has set up several specialized subcommittees. These groups will handle important parts of the election campaign such as planning, finance, grassroots engagement, logistics, media and publicity, security, women’s mobilisation, youth mobilisation, and secretariat functions.
“The Council, made up of current and former governors, National Assembly leaders, and other notable party figures, is responsible for coordinating the Party’s campaign activities for the Ekiti State Governorship Election,” the statement said.
The party sees this launch as a significant step in getting ready for the governorship election and an essential move to boost grassroots support across the state.
“The launch is a crucial part of the activities to start mobilising across Ekiti State for a successful outcome in the upcoming governorship election,” APC stated.
Political watchers will be paying close attention to the campaign council’s activities. This is because of the high profile of its members and the importance of Ekiti in the APC’s South-West political landscape.
