The All Progressives Congress (APC) has named Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, and Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, as members of its presidential campaign council for the 2027 general election.

These appointments are significant because the three are from different political parties. Wike belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adeleke won re-election in August under the Accord Party, and Soludo was re-elected in November 2025 on the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) platform.

In the new setup, Wike will coordinate the APC’s presidential campaign in Rivers State and the FCT. Soludo will manage campaign activities in Anambra State, while Adeleke will handle the campaign in Osun State.

Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has been appointed as Deputy National Coordinator I for Stakeholders’ Mobilisation in the South-west.

President Bola Tinubu is set to launch the expanded list at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, will chair the campaign council. Vice-President Kashim Shettima will serve as vice-chairman. Nentawe Yilwatda, the party’s national chairman, has been named vice-chairman II.

Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State, has been appointed secretary of the council. Surajudeen Basiru will be the deputy secretary, and Hadiza Usman will be the assistant secretary.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Governor of Kwara State, will serve as deputy vice-chairmen I, II, and III, respectively.

Mai Buni, the Governor of Yobe State, will take on the role of Deputy Director-General I for the North. Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, has been appointed Deputy Director-General II for the North.

Adams Oshiomhole, a senator from Edo North, will be the Deputy Director-General for Mobilisation.

Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate Leader, and Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, have been named Deputy Director-Generals I and II for the South.

A key part of the new list is the appointment of all 32 APC governors as coordinators for the presidential campaign in their states.

The party also selected candidates to lead the campaign in states where it does not hold the governorship. Sharafadeen Alli, the APC’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, will be the campaign coordinator there. Mohammed Abubakar, the party’s candidate in Bauchi State, will coordinate in Bauchi, while Chijioke Chukwu, its candidate in Abia State, will lead the campaign in Abia.

The party has also named 14 advisers to the council. These include Bisi Akande, former governor of Osun State; Segun Osoba, former governor of Ogun State; George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Florence Ita-Giwa, former senator for Cross River South; Ibikunle Amosun, former governor of Ogun State; and Iyiola Omisore, former APC national secretary.

Wale Edun, the former Coordinating Minister of the Economy, is also on the list of advisers.

This expanded list comes after earlier disputes over the APC’s presidential campaign council when the party released an earlier list in August.

The Presidency later confirmed that the first list was still valid, but some changes would be made to the campaign structure.

Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, explained during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily in August.

Dare said the original list remained valid because the campaign structure was still being finalised, with several subcommittees yet to be formed.

The initial list, released on 22 August, had named Abdulaziz Yari, former Governor of Zamfara State, as Director-General of the campaign council. Akpabio, Abbas, and Buni were appointed as deputy director-generals.

The new list made changes to various positions and added new appointments across the party’s national leadership, state structures, and mobilisation teams.

The council is expected to manage the APC’s campaign activities for the 2027 general election, including mobilising support and engaging with stakeholders to back Tinubu’s re-election bid.
