Mikel Arteta has shared that he has had some hard talks with forwards Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus as both players look set to leave Arsenal.
"It's inevitable, at some point you need to have certain discussions and say certain things that sometimes are tough," Arteta said.
Martinelli left training early on Thursday. There are rumors he might be heading to Saudi team Al Hilal for a fee that could go up to £50 million (about $68 million).
"I think everybody knows and recognizes how much we love Gabi (Martinelli). Whatever the outcome is, it will be because everybody agrees to that," Arteta added.
Jesus has seen his role reduce a lot during an injury-plagued time in London. He did not even train on Thursday as he approaches the last year of his contract.
"It's something to do with the numbers that we have in the squad at the moment and the way we're managing that kind of situation individually with all the players, they have some personal situations," Arteta said about the former Manchester City striker.
Arsenal is looking to strengthen their attack with a potential move for Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez.
"Don't go there," Arteta said when asked about Arsenal's interest in Alvarez. "I'm not going to make any comment about any player that is not with us."
