Atlético Madrid has expressed interest in Victor Osimhen. They have reportedly asked about the Galatasaray striker while getting ready for major changes in the summer transfer window, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The Spanish team is watching Osimhen’s situation in Turkey because their striker, Julián Álvarez, might leave for Arsenal.
Earlier, Barcelona was interested in Álvarez, but they have backed off due to his high price of €100m.
Now, Arsenal is back in the picture for Álvarez, and Atlético is looking at Osimhen as a possible replacement since he has been playing well in Turkey.
Osimhen's Performance
The Nigerian joined Galatasaray last summer and has done great at Rams Park. He has scored 59 goals and provided 16 assists in 74 matches across two seasons.
Fichajes reports that initial talks have already begun, and Osimhen is said to be keen on moving to La Liga. However, Galatasaray wants at least €100m for him.
Atlético seems ready to pay that amount if Álvarez leaves the team.
Future Plans for Osimhen
Recently, Osimhen said he is not planning to leave Galatasaray. This comes after Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle hinted he might change clubs this summer. Sources close to the 27-year-old say he will only leave Rams Park if Galatasaray decides to let him go.
Osimhen has also caught the eye of several top European clubs, including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester United.
Possible Team-Up with Lookman
If Osimhen joins Atlético, he would play alongside his Super Eagles teammate, Ademola Lookman, who signed with the club in January.
In the last season, Osimhen faced Atlético in the Champions League. They played on January 21 in Istanbul, and the match ended in a draw. Afterward, Osimhen praised Atlético coach Diego Simeone.
