The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced the second edition of its Mega Music Festival. The church calls this event a national gathering for worship, prayer, and prophetic declarations meant to bring in "a new season" for Nigeria.
Many gospel ministers will lead worship during the festival. Some of them include Nathaniel Bassey, Dunsin Oyekan, Yinka Alaseyori, Bidemi Olaoba, and Gospel Force, along with other worship leaders.
At a press briefing on Monday, the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Youth Affairs, Sola Olukoya, shared that the event will take place on Friday, 12 June, at 8:00 p.m. The venue is Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos, and the theme for the event is “A New Season.”
More than just music
Mr. Olukoya emphasized that this event is not just a music concert. It is a spiritual gathering meant to seek divine help for Nigeria through worship, thanksgiving, and prayers.
"This gathering is not just a music festival or another event on the calendar. It is a divine appointment, a highly spiritual programme designed as a night of intense prayers, heartfelt worship, prophetic declarations, and thanksgiving unto the Almighty God," he said.
He noted that thousands of worshippers from Nigeria and beyond are expected to come together in praise. They will declare a new season over their lives, families, and the nation.
He quoted the Bible, explaining that the festival is based on the belief that true praise brings divine blessings, healing, and growth.
"We believe that when a people honour God with genuine praise, the land responds with increase, restoration, peace, and divine blessings," the pastor said.
Mr. Olukoya also mentioned that the church is committed to praying for Nigeria. He believes the country is moving towards hope, economic recovery, security, innovation, and change.
"We believe that as Nigeria raises an altar of praise, every chain of limitation will be broken, and God will open new doors over our nation," he added.
Meaning of Democracy Day
Mr. Olukoya pointed out that choosing Tafawa Balewa Square is significant. It is where Nigeria’s independence was celebrated in 1960 with the lowering of the Union Jack and the raising of the Nigerian flag.
He said holding the event at this same location on Democracy Day is a way to declare a fresh hope for the nation’s future.
Participants will pray for a new season for Nigeria’s economy, education, security, families, and for new opportunities across different sectors.
Youth Tech Initiative
Apart from worship, the church also announced the launch of the RCCG Young Adult and Youth Tech Fellowship. This initiative is in collaboration with Reach4Christ.
Mr. Olukoya explained that the goal is to empower over 100,000 young adults through a four-month practical technology training program.
The fellowship will offer training, mentorship, and skills development in areas like Data Analysis, Product Development, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Software Development, and more.
He said this initiative shows the church’s commitment to preparing young people spiritually, mentally, and professionally for the changing global economy.
"Our mission is to equip young people spiritually, mentally, and professionally, giving them the tools to access global job opportunities, create solutions, and contribute to national development," he said.
He added that the church wants to raise young people who are "not only passionate worshippers but also problem solvers, creators, innovators, and leaders in every area of society."
The event will also have prayers and prophetic declarations led by senior ministers, including Pastor J. F. Odesola and Pastor J. T. Kalejaiye.
The General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, will give the Father’s Blessing and a prophetic declaration over Nigeria.
Event Logistics and Security
Mr. Olukoya mentioned that plans for the event are already in full swing. Over 5,000 volunteers will help with ushering, security, sanitation, prayer, logistics, and medical support.
He added that free buses will run from designated spots across Lagos and Ogun states to take worshippers to and from the venue.
He assured everyone that security, traffic management, medical support, and crowd-control measures are in place for a safe and smooth event.
Inviting Nigerians to join, Mr. Olukoya described Mega Music Festival 2.0 as more than just a gathering.
"It is an altar of praise. It is a sound of hope. It is a movement of transformation. It is a declaration that Nigeria is entering a new season.
"As we praise, God will heal our land. As we pray, God will open new doors. As we empower our youths, we prepare a generation for destiny," he concluded.
