Busari Talks Tactics After Match Against Burkina Faso

Flamingos head coach Hakeem Busari shared that his game plan against Burkina Faso worked well, even as the West Africans made it tough for Nigeria in their WAFU-B U-17 Girls’ Cup match.

Busari expected Burkina Faso to play defensively, use long balls, and try to frustrate his team. Nigeria missed several early chances, which let their opponents stay in the game.

“I saw this coming. Burkina Faso were going to sit back. They wanted to rely on their tactics, and we missed chances in the first half. Those chances could have changed the match and increased our goal margin,” Busari said after the game.

The coach mentioned that Nigeria needed to be patient since Burkina Faso aimed to defend and play direct football.

“They wanted to use long balls instead of passing on the ground and sit back. The tactics were tough, and we needed to be patient,” he added.

Busari also noted that his young players needed to stay calm as Burkina Faso became stronger after Nigeria missed their chances.

He said the first goal changed the game since Burkina Faso had to stop defending and start attacking.

“Football is about tactics. In Africa, we have great coaches and skilled people who can come up with strategies. Big ups to Burkina for their tactics, and we managed to handle them with ours,” he said.

This win keeps the Flamingos’ hopes alive as Busari and his team look forward to their next challenge.
